In the context of electronic components, handles refer to bent or curved shafts, with round, rectangular or oval cross-section, attached on either end with fasteners. Handles can have externally threaded ends, or internally threaded and there are folding varieties which can allow either a 90-degree swing or a 180-degree swing, with or without a detent ball. ASM handles are typically used to lift and carry small machines, components and sub-assemblies. Offset handles can also serve to remove sliding modules from a chassis, and folding handles provide the same function in areas with limited clearance.
These types of handles are most commonly made of aluminum or stainless steel with either anodized or passivated finishes. Sizes range from 1/8” through ½” diameter, 2″ through 24″ length, but ASM can make other lengths and sizes as well. Some types of handles are supplied with nuts and washers as mounting hardware as specified.
